About Marina Bennett

Marina Bennett is a prolific singer-songwriter hailing from Vancouver BC, Canada. As a self proclaimed “sonic storyteller”, she loves fusing her artist heart, powerful vocals, and dynamic musical palette to create songs that pull the listener into the moment. Her music is a brilliant combination of soulful pop and rnb infused with haunting cinematic folk.  Marina explores a variety of moods and production styles in her music celebrating the different sides of herself through her explorative, relatable songwriting. With a four octave range and impressive vocal power whilst sounding warm, expressive, sensual and honest, Marina uses music as a tool to express and heal herself, and she wants listeners to feel heard and understood as she explores life’s stories and their universal themes through song.

Raised by musical parents, Marina's earliest memories are of cruising around the city with her mother Brenda in a vintage Pontiac learning how to sing harmonies along to cassette tapes. She has fond memories of her mom's DJ business growing up and the feeling of opening up thousands of CD's and cassette tapes to devour.  Her late father Keith Bennett was a prolific blues/jazz musician specializing in chromatic harmonica, vocals, and various other instruments. His playing and singing has been featured on countless recording sessions worldwide. His tragic passing in 2019 fuels Marina to continue on his legacy as an inspirational, creatively fearless musician .  

Marina is a voracious songwriter and writes with and for many other artists worldwide in various genres. Her songwriting and vocal credits include placements with Netflix, Amazon Studios, USA Television, MTV, T-Mobile, NBC, CBC, CBS, FOX, Freeform, Freevee, and the CW Network. Marina Bennett has also been a 3x semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (the largest in the world) in 2021, 2022, and 2023 competing with label artists and unsigned artists and songwriters from all around the globe. A single she co-wrote called “Orange Tree” recently went number 1 on aBreak Radio, the largest independent radio station in the US. Her single “Let Me Go”, was featured on the season finale of the Emmy nominated Netflix show Love is Blind. Her upcoming single “Trapeze” is out March 22nd off her upcoming debut EP and takes listeners on a chill inducing thrill ride as she navigates seduction and self destruction through an unstable volatile relationship. She's passionate about songwriting and believes that music is a bridge to something unseen and sacred that connects us all through the heart.
